The story behind Aethon.
Aethon was founded on a simple frustration: software businesses are constantly handed to accountants who don't really understand them. We started with deep, hands-on experience working with companies whose revenue is anything but straightforward, and a genuine passion for SaaS and technology that runs through everything we do.
We'd seen the problem from the inside. Most practices are built around local businesses across every kind of trade, and they simply don't grasp how a subscription business really works, or how its income should be recognised. Aethon is a Greek word. Αἴθων. It means fire, radiance, burning bright. Greek and Latin roots run deep in accountancy — it's a profession with centuries of history and tradition behind it.
The name is a nod to that history. But the work we do is the opposite of standing still. Aethon is what accountancy looks like when you bring modern thinking, clear communication, and the right technology to an industry that's been slow to move forward.
